Part-Time Accountant/Book Keeper

The City of Buena Vista is seeking professional services for a part-time accountant/book keeper.  Requested services follow but should not be limited to work performed by a qualified person or firm:

  • Preparing, posting, and filing backup documentation for journal entries for all receipts, payments, and other financial transactions as needed
  • Preparing financial reports on a monthly basis to distribute to the elected body
  • Ensuring the general ledger accounts balance monthly
  • Performing bank reconciliations
  • Preparing financial reports
  • Payroll preparation to include running checks, submitting taxes withheld to State and Federal government and preparing reports to both as required by law
  • Preparing W-2s/1099s
  • Assisting with Acct. Payables/Receivables
  • Fixed Asset reconciliation and depreciation calculations
  • Cross Training City Clerk on most accounting/book keeping functions for the city
  • Assist with preparation for the city audit
  • Completing adjusting journal entries and closing out the books after the annual audit
  • Other financial duties as assigned by Mayor and Council
