Parks and Recreation Project Coordinator

DESCRIPTION

Under guidance and direction of the Parks and Rec Capital Projects Manager, this position plans, coordinates, and finalizes projects according to strict deadlines and budgets. This includes acquiring resources, coordinating the efforts of team members and third party contractors or consultants in an effort to deliver projects on time and within budget.  Define project objectives and oversee quality control throughout the life cycle of the project.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in the management of capital improvement and major maintenance projects.
  • Coordinates project design and construction elements with user groups, other County departments, Non-County agencies, and the public.
  • Assists in planning and preparation of the departments Capital Improvement (CIP) budget.
  • Assists in the preparation of complex reports related to the status of capital projects.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:   Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field.  

Experience:   Three (3) or more years of experience in governmental accounting, finance, or capital planning.
 
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Considerable knowledge of various current office computer programs including project management software.
  • Strong working knowledge of current principles and practices of park and recreation area planning, design, construction and maintenance.
  • Ability to successfully manage projects through completion with strict quality control.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as with assigned support teams.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, consultants, neighborhood/community groups and other public agencies.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to comprehend construction plans, designs, and specifications.

 
Licensing/Certification:   
Possession of a valid driver’s license with good driving history.  If State license is other than Georgia or South Carolina, applicant must obtain a license in Georgia or South Carolina within 30 days of employment
