POSITION TITLE: Tag/Tax Clerk I

FY21-119 DEPARTMENT: Tax Commissioner

ENTRY SALARY: $15.44 per hour, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for performing clerical and customer service duties in the processing of title/tag applications, in the renewal of motor vehicle tags, and in the collection of property tax. Receives and processes payments; issues receipts. Explains tax statements and penalties to the public. Issues mobile home permits, tags, and disability placards. Prepares tag and title applications and tag transfers; issues tags and titles. Prepares and mails tax bills. Reviews and verifies insurance information. Balances cash drawer daily. Assists taxpayers; answers questions and solves problems. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
