The City of Hinesville is the seat of Liberty County and is located forty miles southwest of Savannah.  The city is adjacent to Fort Stewart, making it home to the 3rd Infantry Division.  The Community Development Department is responsible for seeking, securing and managing funds from public and private grant sources to help facilitate the strategic goals of the City and is currently accepting applications for a Community Development Director.

Under general supervision of the City Manager, the Community Development Director is responsible for obtaining and administering housing rehabilitation and other grant funds for the city.  The purpose of this position is to ensure the elimination of substandard housing in the city and to provide accountability of the use of grant funds received by the city.  The Community Development Director has direct supervision over the Homeless Prevention Program, Affordable Housing Program, CDBG Sub-Recipient Program, Fair Housing, Grant Awards, Homebuyer Education, and Tied to Success Programs.

The minimum qualifications of the position include a bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Public Administration or Business Administration with 5-7 years of experience in Community Development.  Knowledge required in community and economic development, federal and state contract laws, grant requirements, statistical, accounting and budget analysis methods.  Skills in interpreting contract language, preparing and delivering presentations and demonstrated oral and written communication is required.

Minimum starting salary is $70,848 plus an excellent benefits package. The position closes on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.
