Chatham Emergency Services is accepting applications for currently certified firefighters for its lateral hire / fast track program. The testing process requires successful completion of an online written exam, physical agility test, and oral interview.
Position Responsibilities Overview: Firefighter is an entry-level fire prevention, suppression, and emergency medical response classification. Under the direction of a Fire Lieutenant, the Firefighter is responsible for fire prevention, fire suppression, fire inspections, hazardous materials release response, rescue operations and emergency medical care; drive and assists in apparatus, equipment, and facility maintenance. This position is a 6-month temporary trainee position intended to prepare and qualify personnel to promote to the Advanced Firefighter.
Chatham Emergency Services responds to approximately 4,000 emergency calls annually to include fire, rescue, extrication and medical assist incidents.

Starting salary is $34,402. In six months, Firefighters may be eligible for promotion to Advanced Firefighter after completion of all job performance requirements and certifications - rate $37,742.
