Heavy Equipment Operator/CDL

Lamar County is actively seeking qualified candidates for the position of Heavy Equipment Operator/CDL. This position is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment to assist in County road and maintenance duties. Candidate should have knowledge of road construction and infrastructure maintenance activities; operation of a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment including motor graders, bulldozers, front loaders and backhoes. Qualifications: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education, or a combination of education, experience, and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position, usually 3 to 5 years. This position is 4 – 10-hour days. Benefits include Health Insurance, Life Insurance, sick leave, and vacation leave. Pay based on experience. Must have GED or High School Diploma. The applicant must be able to pass a drug test and background check. The applicant must have a valid Georgia Driver’s License, Class B or equivalent CDL.
