Job Summary:

This position is responsible for providing clerical and data entry support to the Office of Magistrate Court.

Major Duties:

  • Performs a variety of clerical tasks; ensures compliance with Magistrate Court policies and procedures and with judicial orders.
  • Assists the general public in the office, by telephone, email, and by fax.
  • Assists in the development and management of Magistrate Court documents.
  • Prepare bond hearings, citizen warrant applications, county ordinances, deposit account fraud citations, bench and arrest warrants, and probation revocations.
  • Processes F.I.F.A.’s
  • Receives and processes consent judgements; enter default judgements.
  • Sorts and distributes mail.
  • Files and locates case papers.
  • Reviews and prepares docket for all cases; ensures accuracy and compliance with magistrate court policies and procedures; assesses fines and costs.
  • Attends court hearings in person or virtually to provide assistance and record orders.
  • Reviews and processes statement of claims, dispossessions, foreclosures, writ of possession, abandon motor vehicle affidavits, garnishments, and other civil actions filings.
  • Balances cash drawer.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.

The successful candidate must pass a Background/Reference Check, and Pre-Employment Drug Screenings prior to the start of employment.
