                                                                 Finance Officer

 The City of Sylvester Georgia is seeking a highly qualified individual for the position of Finance 
Officer.  Sylvester is a small community with a population of approximately 6000 located between 
Albany and Tifton on U.S. Highway 82. The City of Sylvester delivers a full range of services to 
the community via a $21 million municipal budget including utilities.  The Finance Officer will be 
responsible for all municipal finance governmental functions, including all state requirements as 
well as the preparation and the oversight of the general ledger, customer service, utility billing, 
municipal budget preparation according to GFOA guidelines, pension reports, bank reconciliations, 
grants, and purchasing.  Applicants must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s license, and possess a 
minimum of two (4) years local government experience. Finance Officer Certification Level I & II
required.  Experience with Tyler/Incode is preferred, Excel and Word is required.  In addition to 
the required financial skills, good communication and interpersonal skills are important for this 
position. High School diploma/GED required or any equivalent combination of education, training, 
and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
