Pickens County employees begin to accrue vacation and sick leave upon hire. Medical, Dental, Vision and voluntary insurances are available after a waiting period. Pickens County also offers a matching Defined Contribution 401(a) Retirement Plan.


  • Assists manager in performing maintenance and repair work on county buildings, facilities, and related systems, to include construction, remodeling, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, grounds maintenance, custodial, and general repair/maintenance projects.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with all applicable codes, laws, rules and regulations; ensures adherence to safety procedures; monitors work environment and use of safety equipment.
  • Determines feasibility of performing work in-house or utilizing contract providers; determines necessary materials, equipment and other resources; determines costs; prioritizes and schedules projects; monitors project status and deadlines.
  • Assists in performing mechanical maintenance projects, including the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems.
  • Assists in performing plumbing projects, including the installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of plumbing systems.
  • Assists in performing electrical projects, including the installation, maintenance and repair of a variety of electrical systems and components.
  • Assists in grounds maintenance functions.
  • Assists manager in review of services provided by outside providers; inspects and monitors work performed by outside contractors.
  • Assists manager with the custodial maintenance of buildings and facilities.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • The ability to operate in a constant state of alertness, and safe manner.


  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid State of Georgia Electrical Class II Unrestricted License.

MINIMUM PAY - $31,489.64 annual
