Description of Job / Position:

Cherokee County is actively looking for a Senior Planner for our Zoning Division. The Senior Planner provides advanced professional planning knowledge and experience often leading other staff in larger, more complex planning assignments. They are responsible for

  • Preparing reports and presentations,
  • Coordinating with other county agencies or other local governments,
  • Reviewing and approving development plans,
  • Providing customer service, and
  • Researching various planning-related topics.

The Senior Planner receives general supervision from division management and may supervise either or both a Planner or Planning Technician.

Job Requirements:

Our ideal candidate would have a combination of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Planning or related field and at least 2 years of supervisory experience in a professional environment. They should have AICP certification or be eligible soon. Candidates with skills in Microsoft Office, Adobe products and ArcGIS are preferred.

Salary & Benefits:

Salary Range: $52,011 to $63,299 DOQ
