JOB SUMMARY:  This position performs accounting duties in support of assigned County Financial operations.

DUTIES:

  1. Processes and creates journal entries.
  2. Performs end-of-period closing functions.
  3. Performs data entry in support of budget development and management.
  4. Assists with the annual audit.
  5. Performs cash flow analysis.
  6. Reconciles a variety of bank accounts.
  7. Performs grant accounting functions to ensure compliance with grant requirements.
  8. Researches and analyzes data; prepares reports.
  9. Perform asset management duties.
  10. Audits petty cash monthly for the department and annually for all county departments.
  11. Creates invoices.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  1. Baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupations field required.
  2. More than one year of related experience preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  1. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  2. Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
  3. Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  4. Skill in preparing reports and communicating information clearly and effectively.
  5. Skill in managing and prioritizing multiple projects.
  6. Skill in oral and written communication.
  7. Skill in analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.
