As a Code Enforcement Officer III assigned to the Commercial Enforcement Unit, you will be responsible for serving as a lead to staff; performing field investigations to determine compliance with codes, ordinances, rules, and regulations for quality-of-life issues; issuing notices and citations as applicable; and preparing detailed reports of findings. You will also be completing special projects; and researching property information by reviewing plans; accessing databases.
Other essential duties include:
Responding to complex citizen questions and concerns regarding codes and ordinances
Maintaining an understanding of current laws relating to codes and compliance of same
Assisting supervisor with administrative reports
Training new Code Enforcement Officers
Performing data entry of zoning and other property information gathered during field investigations
Preparing cases for the Environmental Division of Recorder’s Court
Public speaking duties include:
Presenting cases to the Environmental Division of Recorder’s Court by testifying as to facts ascertained during investigations
This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace.
This job will require evening and weekend hours as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associate degree*
Three years of code enforcement experience*
Valid driver’s license
ICC Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector certification within one year of employment
Security and Awareness Certification within six months of employment
*An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Salary range: $52,063.00 - $60,523.00 Annually. Salary will depend on qualifications.
