The Butts County Commissioner’s Office is seeking applicants for the position of Planning and Development Planner I. Under limited supervision, incumbent is responsible for researching and preparing information related to planning functions within the department.
The Planning and Development Planner I must have a working knowledge of the operation of this department. The incumbent is directly involved in the current and long-range planning programs of the County as they relate to the development and implementation of land use and related zoning plans and policies. Other duties include but are not limited to conducting research in specific or general project areas; collecting a variety of statistical data and prepare reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, tax base data, and occupancy rates; interpreting and applying applicable state, county, county codes, ordinances and regulations as directed; attending all assigned regularly scheduled meetings of the County Commissioners, Planning Commission, and the Board of Zoning Appeals.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field, or a combination of education, experience and skills that meet the prerequisites of the position.
Bachelor’s degree in planning, or related field from an accredited college/university.
1-3 years of municipal/governmental planning experience (preferred).
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Must be willing to take a drug test and allow a criminal background check.
