The City of Hinesville is accepting applications for a Communications Director.  The Communications Director serves as the head of marketing, branding and public relations for the City of Hinesville. This role is responsible for the creation and oversight of all creative marketing materials, maintaining the integrity of the City’s brand and branding policies and developing and distributing publicity.

 

Major Duties include developing and producing high-quality, informative and interesting press releases, press kits and related press materials; Assisting the City Manager in the development of a strategic communications plan to support the organization's mission, goals and objectives; Overseeing the day-to-day operations of specific year-round communications programs; Serving as the City’s sole media contact for facilitating and scheduling interviews and responding to any and all media inquiries; Managing the City’s online/social media presence and produce relevant and compelling updates; Organizing promotional events, press conferences, tours, visits and exhibitions.

 

The position requires three to five years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, English, Communications, Journalism or a course of study related to occupational field.  The work is performed in various settings and requires solid media relations experience and effective written and oral communications skills in order to build and foster collaborative relationships with the media, members of the community, public affairs offices and all departments within the City.  Experience using Photo Shop and InDesign to create flyers, invitations, brochures and infographics and the ability to complete multiple tasks on strict deadlines is required.  Experience managing special events, excellent time management and organizational skills and the ability to follow through on assigned tasks with limited supervision is also required.
