Job Title: Finance Director
Annual Salary: Approximately $117,000
Description of Duties:
This position is responsible for the management of the financial operations of the City of Warner Robins. The Finance Director Plans, organizes, manages, and supervises all financial accounting, revenue collection, budget, payroll, cash management, investment, accounts payable, and debt management operations. This person also formulates and implements policies and procedures, and directs the development, installation, and maintenance of budgeting systems. This position also ensures compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding the city’s financial operations and advises the Mayor, City Council and department heads on matters concerning the conditions of appropriations, the extent of expenditures, and other financial matters. The Finance Director is responsible for overseeing approximately ten employees working in the finance department for the City of Warner Robins.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in either accounting or another course of study related to the occupational field. Certified Public Accountant and Certified Public Finance Officer are preferred, not required.
Sufficient experience is required to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience. This must include prior experience in governmental accounting.
Physical Demands:
The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table. Work is typically performed in an office. Light strength demands include exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, along with occasional standing, walking, kneeling, climbing, and twisting.
