This position performs technical duties in support of the city’s accounts payable functions.  Guidelines include Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Generally Accepted Governmental Accounting Principles and city accounts payable processes.    Receives, inputs, processes invoices for payment and resolves questions with departments and vendors.  Matches invoices with purchase orders.  Verifies accuracy of information input in computer system.   Scans accounts payable documents.   Prints and issues checks.  Files accounts payable reports.  Verifies statements and researches unpaid invoices.   Prepares daily bank deposits.   Prepares 1099s annually.  Perform other related duties.  The work is performed in an office environment.  The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or while intermittently sitting, standing, walking or stooping.   The employee occasionally lifts light objects.  Knowledge and level of competency associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school education.  Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the duties of the position, usually associated with having held a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years.  Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of computers and job related software.  Skill in the analysis of problems and the implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports and in oral and written communication.

Qualifications

Knowledge and level of competency associated with the completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the duties of the position, usually associated with having held a similar position for one (1) to two (2) years. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Knowledge of computers and job related software. Skill in the analysis of problems and the implementation of solutions. Skill in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports and in oral and written communication.
