The City of Lilburn is seeking an Assistant City Manager of Community Development to join and serve as a key member of the City’s leadership team with the direct responsibility of management of assigned departments and effective implantation of Citywide strategic initiatives and policies. This position serves as the development leader for the city, assisting the City Manager with establishing short-term and long-term development and redevelopment plans to meet the city’s strategic growth and development objectives. It is important to note that responsibilities are broad in scope and involve highly sensitive and publicly visible projects that require a high degree of policy, program, and management discretion.

About the Position:
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of city government assigned departments, to include the following duties and responsibilities:
Candidate Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, economic development, urban planning or related field from an accredited university; A Master’s degree in Public Administration is highly preferred. • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of this position. • Downtown development/economic development experience in local government required. • Capital project management experience required. • Certification as Certified Planner (AICP) or as Economic Development Finance Professional (EDFP) preferred.
The expected starting salary range for this position will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate. The City offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage. Additionally, life insurance and long-term disability benefits are paid by the City. The City participates in the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) Employee Retirement Defined Contribution 401(a) program and a Deferred Compensation 457 (b) plan.
