This position is the primary contact for local zoning related matters. Interprets, explains, and recommends to the public, contractors, and developers regarding zoning issues. Composes reports for Zoning Officials, which includes guidelines and regulations that applicants must abide by, pertinent applicant information and recommendations for proceeding. Schedules public hearings, taking minutes, and maintaining files for the Zoning Commissioners and the Department Director. Processes all applications for Annexation, Rezoning, Variance and Home Occupation Licenses. Complies with all state and local zoning regulations, the Sunshine Law, and Robert’s Rule of Order. Assists with updating zoning regulations. Writes staff report for Zoning Officials. Keeps the Planning and Zoning Manager and Department Director up-to-date on all zoning issues. Manages and processes all zoning related correspondence, including notifications and mail. Assists with the preparation of the annual budget. Processes purchasing requisitions and comply with all Procurement guidelines. Ensures the Zoning Board has all required documentation to make their decisions. Assists with administrative duties related to the Planning and Zoning, Engineering, and Building and Transportation offices. Performs related duties.
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Knowledge of all local and state zoning regulations, subdivision regulations, and Georgia Map requirements. Knowledge of the Roberts Rule and the Sunshine Law. Knowledge of procurement guidelines and purchasing regulations.
