This position assists customers and collects tax payments. Answers telephones and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; takes messages; refers to appropriate personnel. Collects payments for property tax, occupation tax, hotel tax, and liquor tax. Balances and maintains cash, check, debit card, and credit card payments. Proofs and files tax record ownership changes. Assists in registering voters. Assists in open records requests. Performs related duties.
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures. Knowledge of modern office equipment. Knowledge of customer service standards. Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. Skill in decision making and problem solving. Skill in dealing with the public. Skill in oral and written communication.
