Job Summary

The Assistant to the City Manager provides professional support to the City Manager within the full range of municipal operations and services in support of the City’s mission and vision.

 

Essential Job Functions

• Conducts complex research independently and presents findings to the City Manager and Assistant City Manager;
• Reviews proposed policies and procedures and provides recommendations;
• Conducts special studies of city operations and services;
• Supports strategic initiatives across the organization;
• Completes special projects impacting businesses, citizens, and visitors;
• Collaborates with City staff and external partners to organize large-scale events;
• Assists in drafting ordinances, resolutions, proclamations and other city documents;
• Assists the City Manager in the preparation of the annual budget;
• Serves as a representative for the Office of the City Manager at local, regional, and state meetings;
• Serves as a staff liaison for commissions and boards; works with other staff to compile materials and data for commissions and boards;
• Researches grant opportunities; prepares grant applications; assists with grant programs;
• Responds to citizen and staff inquiries related to city business or policies;
• Attends City Council meetings and work sessions.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Public Administration or a related field
