Job Summary

The Customer Service Representative provides information and assistance to utility customers.


Essential Job Functions

  • Assists customers at counter, drive-up window, and on the telephone;
  • Establishes new accounts: accepts deposits and fees and provides information regarding utility system policies, procedures, and charges to customers;
  • Collects payments from drop box;
  • Enters payment and account data into computer;
  • Processes cut-off and cut-on work orders;
  • Balances cash drawer on a daily basis;
  • Accepts, receives, and/or collects payments;
  • Opens, sorts, and distributes department mail;
  • Verifies customer and service addresses.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED;
  • Six (6) months of experience in a related field;
  • Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience. 


Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications -  Experience in bookkeeping, banking, clerical, accounting, or in a related field.


Additional Information


The selected candidate must complete the following requirements prior to starting work with the City of Statesboro:

  • Background Investigation
  • Pre-Employment Urinalysis
  • Pre-Employment Physical (If Applicable)
