Job Summary

The Groundskeeper maintains landscaped areas at City facilities, roadways, parks, and cemeteries.

 

Essential Job Functions

• Installs and maintains landscaped areas by performing such duties as mowing, planting, pruning, watering, fertilizing, mulching, weeding, edging, and spraying;
• Prepares landscape and flower bed areas by tilling, raking, shoveling, adding soil amendments and fertilizers, and installing plants and trees;
• Prunes and trims trees;
• Applies appropriate pesticides (herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides);
• Cleans ornamental fountains, filters, and water pumps;
• Operates and assists in training new employees in the maintenance and safe operation of landscaping equipment;
• Operates a water truck to water trees and plants;
• Operates a backhoe and trencher to install irrigation systems;
• Provides routine maintenance of landscaping tools and equipment by performing such tasks as checking oil and fluid levels and sharpening blades;
• Performs general housekeeping duties at shop.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Or equivalent training, education, and/or experience; and 
• Valid State of Georgia Driver’s License.
