The function of Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is to promote and enhance the quality of life of residents, visitors, property owners, and businesses of Gwinnett County. The Department accomplishes its mission through programs and services that encourage high-quality development and maintenance and revitalization of existing neighborhoods. The Department consists of the Administration Division, Building Division, Code Enforcement Division, Planning Division, and Development Division.
The Planner position is assigned to the Development Plan Review section within the Development Division. The position will be responsible for the review, approval, and permitting of commercial and residential site development projects located in unincorporated Gwinnett County to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and ordinances in addition to the issuance of sign permits, addresses, temporary use permits; meets with and assists design professionals, contractors, developers, business owners, and the general public regarding county regulations and ordinances.
The Planner II and Planner III roles will perform multiple aspects of the review process requiring more experience and skill in the review, approval, and permitting of commercial and residential site development projects as well as supporting larger, more complex projects. The Planner III will act as the primary back-up to the Development Plan Review Manager, may supervise staff, assist in formulating policies and procedures, and perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
