Legal Associate II - Law Department

Salary $41,243.00 - $53,616.00 Annually

The Law Department’s mission is to deliver high-quality legal services at a reasonable cost to Gwinnett County.  Law Department attorneys represent the County Board of Commissioners, other elected County officials, managers and staff, authorities, and related organizations.  

Duties include direct administrative support for two or more staff attorneys, including drafting and/or transcribing pleadings and correspondence, filing documents with local or federal courts, maintaining files and records, calendaring appointments and depositions, providing customer service, and other duties of a similar nature or level.  Litigation experience and the ability to multi-task while meeting deadlines are required for this fast-paced office.  Microsoft Outlook 365 proficiency is a plus.  Expect assessment tests as a part of the interview process.  

The grade for this position is B23(1).

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma, or G.E.D.
  • Four years of legal support experience.
  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Physical Requirements:

  • Positions in this class require: fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
  • Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
