JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of the Dispatch Center.

 

MAJOR DUTIES

  • Manages the operations of the Police Dispatch Center.
  • Trains, assigns, directs, schedules, supervises, evaluates, and disciplines personnel.
  • Performs GCIC/NCIC validations and Agency TAC.
  • Assists Communications Officer with complex situations as needed.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates GCIC training for Police Department staff.
  • Maintains the department’s business files.
  • Coordinates warrant pick-ups with officers and other agencies.
  • Performs related duties.

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION

  • Knowledge of emergency telecommunication systems.
  • Knowledge of city geography and streets.
  • Knowledge of management and leadership techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of city personnel policies.
  • Knowledge of the operation of radio and communications equipment.
  • Skill in supervising and training others.
  • Skill in the operation of standard office equipment.
  • Skill in dealing with the public.
  • Skill in interpersonal relations.
  • Skill in maintaining records and preparing reports.
  • Skill in problem solving.
  • Skill in oral and written communication

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
  • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with five or more years experience or service.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.

Job Status:Full-Time; Rate of Pay:$62,537.73 - $77,813.51 Depending on Qualifications
