The mission of Gwinnett County’s Department of Planning and Development is to plan, preserve, and build a healthy community through continuous engagement and superior customer care. The Department accomplishes its mission through programs and services that encourage high quality development, in addition to maintenance and revitalization of existing neighborhoods. The Department consists of the following divisions: Administration, Building, Code Enforcement, Development, Housing and Community Development, and Planning. The Fire Planner I position is assigned to the Fire Plan Review section within the Development Division.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Consults and assists contractors, engineers, attorneys, other government agencies, and the general public on interpreting ordinances, laws, rules, and regulations, and resolves related problems.
  • Responsible for reviewing and approving plans, permits, and other associated documents to ensure life safety 
  • Position may prepare reports and coordinate the hold and release of permits
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or Planning;  
  • One Year of related experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the job’s essential functions as those listed above
