Community Liaison/ Community Engagement Position

Lake City

Listing Summary

This is a part time position that will work closely with the Elected Officials and the City Manager to plan community events, communicate with the residents and business community using social media platforms and coordinate all outreach functions of the city.

This position will report to the City Manager.

The person selected for this position will have outstanding communication skills as well as an outstanding knowledge and use of social media platforms. In addition, they must have excellent organizational skills and must be able to prepare and present information to a wide range of stakeholders.

The ability to employ critical thinking skills and problem solving will be crucial to the success of this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain relationships with key community members, including public officials, business leaders, and media representatives.

Plan and implement community outreach initiatives, such as events, programs and workshops designed to engage the community.

Serve as a resource to staff on matters related to the community.

Set up outreach meetings with the residents to learn about their challenges and concerns.

Perform administrative tasks as needed, such as preparing reports and maintaining records.

Will prepare the city’s quarterly newsletter.

 Share information with the community about relevant local events and activities through social media channels or other communication avenues.

 Serve as a Liaison between the residents and business owners.

Participate in community events and plan meetings between the city and the business community.

Encourage residents to participate in neighborhood watch groups or crime prevention programs.


Education Requirements:

High School Graduate/GED

Preferred Education Qualification:

Two - Four Years of College with a focus on Communication or Public Administration.

This will be an hourly position with a pay range depending on qualifications. This is a part time position and is not eligible for city benefits.

The Pay Range will be $17.37 - $20.11 per hour.  A maximum of twenty-four hours per week.
