PURPOSE & JOB RELATED REQUIREMENTS:

REPORTS TO: Fire Captain
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
CLASSIFICATION: Personnel System - Requires satisfactory completion of a 12-month evaluation period.
PAY GRADE: FD04
SAFETY SENSITIVE: Yes - Subject to random drug testing per the Athens-Clarke County Drug and Alcohol Ordinance. 

Applicants with qualified certified Firefighter II and EMT prior experience may be eligible for higher placement/salary in the step plan. 

Purpose of Job
The purpose of the job is to manage day-to-day operation of fire and emergency services. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to, management/supervision, responding to routine and emergency situations, providing Fire/EMS training, preparing administrative paperwork, and performing additional tasks as assigned.


Job Related Requirements

WORK SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours required.

May be required to work on religious holidays.

Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Must work cooperatively with others.

When requirements include vehicle operation, responsible for the safety, readiness and operation of the vehicle and must abide by ACC's safe driving policy.

Emergency Position
This position is designated as an emergency position that requires your attendance at work under all types of emergency conditions. Some examples of emergencies include inclement weather, utility failure, fire or other forced evacuations or as determined by the Manager.

MINIMUM TRAINING & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent with six years of fire and rescue experience required. 

Must be a certified Firefighter II with Georgia Firefighter Standards and Training or equivalent.

Successful completion of ICS:  100, 200, 300, 700, 800 training classes.

Completion of Fire Instructor I, Incident Safety Officer, NPQ Fire Officer I, Structural Fire Control, and Leadership I.

Must possess a valid Georgia Class B commercial driver's license or a valid Georgia Class F non-commercial driver's license or a valid Georgia Class A commercial driver's license or a valid Georgia Class E non-commercial driver's license.

One year of supervisory experience is required.

Emergency Medical Technician Certification required.

Some college classes preferred.

One year of participation with a community group or agency preferred. 

Participation in Department Committee preferred.  

When assigned to Training Center

Fire Instructor II or equivalency preferred.

Fire Officer II or equivalency preferred.
