Manchester Police Department has openings for the position of police officer. The department is currently accepting applications for Ga POST certified officers, (preferred), and non-certified candidates.
Manchester has a population of approximately 4000 citizens and is located in southern Meriwether county and a small portion of northern Talbot county, about 35 miles north of Columbus and 70 miles south of Atlanta
Responsibilities:
Manchester Police officers are expected to demonstrate competency and professionalism while providing law enforcement services for our citizens. They will perform a wide range of law enforcement functions including but not limited to making arrests, serving warrants, issuing traffic citations, city ordinance violation summons, working traffic accidents, patrolling neighborhoods and business districts, answering calls for service through MPD dispatch and Meriwether 911, crowd control, community policing, and general enforcement of the law.
Minimum Requirements:
Must be 21 years of age
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have a high school diploma or equilavent
Must have a valid driver's license
Must have no felony convictions
Successful completion oral interview and background check
Check of criminal and traffic history
Must pass a drug screen and polygraph
Non-certified candidates must successfully complete mandate school
Certified candidates must be in good standing with POST

Salary:
Entry level non-certified candidates annual salary $37,206, after completion of mandate and FTO salary goes to $39,435
Entry level POST certified candidates annual salary $39,435, after completion of 12 month probation period salary goes to $41,664
Salaries based on employee working 2229 hours annually
