Part-time position to provide excellent public service in a very busy library working in a team-based environment.
The position’s emphasis is on shelving books and shifting materials. Other routine tasks include operating an automated circulation system, emptying overnight book return, checking materials in and out, monitoring patron and building security during assigned hours, responding to patron needs, educating patrons on eBook downloads, and other jobs as assigned. Assisting patrons with computer questions is a large portion of this job, so candidates must be comfortable with computer technologies on several platforms including but not limited to Windows, Microsoft programs, Kindle, and iPad.
Schedule will be up to 20 hours a week and may include Saturday and/or evening hours.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and one-year library or customer service experience. Must be able to work well with the public, pay attention to detail, complete tasks accurately, and have good communication skills. Must be able to lift and move bins of books up to 30 pounds, push book carts full of books, and stand for long periods of time.
