The City of South Fulton, GA is searching for an Internal Auditor to review City financial transactions, policies, and practices for compliance with federal, state, and local rules and regulations and applicable City policies.  The Internal Auditor will perform independent and objective audits or reviews of financial, compliance and operational activities of the city and the city's contractors, licensees, and franchisees.

The City of South Fulton was created in 2016 amid a municipalization of Fulton County. The City is strategically located on the south side of Atlanta with great highway access, in close proximity to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and a diverse mix of industries. It is also a collection of both well-established neighborhoods and new construction. The area is booming with development and has a long while until it reaches full buildout.

It represents the best of all worlds, from the bustling business districts on Roosevelt and Old National Highways to sprawling, rural scenes along the city’s picturesque southeast border.

The City of South Fulton, GA covers 86 square miles with a population of 108,600. Over 1,700 businesses are located in the City and residents enjoy 17 parks situated on 692 acres. 

The Internal Auditor will report directly to the Mayor and City Council.  The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in Accounting or related field (MBA Preferred)


  • Licensed as a Certificated Public Accountant (CPA)


  • Certification issued by The Institute of Internal Auditors as a Certificated Internal Auditor (CIA) (Preferred)


  • Certification issued by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE) (Preferred)


  • Five or more years of internal audit experience in a public sector organization, or any combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
