Planning and Transportation Director
The Southern Georgia Regional Commission is accepting applications for the position of Planning and Transportation Director. This position is responsible for the oversight of the staff and programs of the Planning and Transportation Division, including the Valdosta-Lowndes Metropolitan Planning Organization (VLMPO). Responsibilities will include researching, planning, coordinating, and managing the department's work program involving local and regional land use and transportation planning. The Director works with partner agencies to identify needs, evaluate options, and select strategies to manage, preserve, and improve SGRC's transportation network. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in planning, public administration, transportation planning, management or closely related field; supplemented by three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving planning and/or transportation planning, and experience in the public sector; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Sufficient experience to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions in order to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years experience or service. Valid driver’s license, MVR, and pre-employment drug test required. Position will be in the Valdosta office. Competitive salary DOE. Hours M-F, 8:30-5. Excellent benefits.
