JOB DESCRIPTION
FINANCE DEPARTMENT – FINANCE CLERK
JOB TITLE: Finance Clerk
REPORTS TO: City Manager
JOB SUMMARY:
This is a full-time position performing duties in the Finance Department under the administration of the City Manager. This position will perform duties for the following areas: accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable reconciliations.
EQUIPMENT AND JOB LOCATION:
This employee must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment such as: typewriter, computer, printer, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, automobile.
Work is performed indoors with an occasional short car trip. All City buildings and vehicles are smoke-free.
Essential Job Functions:
- Accounts Payable Duties:
- Enter invoices to be paid weekly
- Maintain AP records and files
- Print and mail AP checks weekly
- Process vendor ACH/online payments
- Yearly vendor 1099’s
- Balance Bank Deposit to Registers daily
- Take Deposit to Bank daily
- Payroll Duties:
- Maintain employee leave and payroll records
- Enter weekly payroll
- Print payroll checks/direct deposit notices
- Pay weekly payroll taxes
- Accounts Receivable Duties:
- Monthly account receivables and deposit reconciliations
- Alcohol Excise/Hotel -Motel Taxes
- Track Payments, Create past due invoices
- Coordinate collections with Code Enforcement Office
- Special Funds-Coordinate with external groups for financial statements
- General Ledger duties- Month end bank reconciliation- Month end account reconciliations
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must have legal authorization to work within the United States of America
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- College degree preferred
- Must have advanced computer skills with the ability to learn new software
- Must have exceptional organizational skills
- Must be able to report for work on time and to perform the duties of the job for the entire workday
- Must be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and to effectively communicate with the public
- Must have the ability to use good judgment while performing job related tasks
