The City of Social Circle, GA is recruiting for a Finance Director.  The Finance Director is responsible for the core financial functions of the City including overall financial management and operations, accounting, reporting, budgeting, debt issuance, compliance, management, supervision of the external audit and financial record keeping.

The City of Social Circle, “Georgia’s greatest little town” was incorporated in 1869. The City is strategically located 45 miles east of Atlanta and less than 30 minutes from the University of Georgia and Athens.  Social Circle sits along the I-20 corridor with quick access to SR 78 and Madison and Monroe, GA.

The City boasts a historic downtown with bustling retail and restaurants, affordable housing, great city schools and a family atmosphere.  It is truly a small town, a safe place to live and a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of metro Atlanta.  The City has become a hub for high tech manufacturing and quality jobs with the development of a 2,000 acre manufacturing facility with over $5 Billion in investments.  The development will house the Rivian plant, an electric truck manufacturer.  It is one of the largest economic development projects in Georgia.

The City has 75 employees across 11 departments.  The FY 2023 budget is over $7M and this full-service city provides its residents with traditional government services as well as fire and police service, water/sewer, natural gas, and trash service.

The Finance Director reports directly to the City Manager and is a key member of the leadership team.  The position requires the successful candidate to meet the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university in accounting or a related field.  Significant experience in public finance, or any combination of education, training and experience which provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.

The expected salary range for this position is $86,000 - $100,000.
