The Savannah Area GIS Map Viewer was one of the first public GIS websites in the country. We are currently looking for the staff that will help us build the future of SAGIS.org. If you are innovative, technical, and think spatially, we invite you to apply for the GIS Developer position with the Chatham County-Savannah Metropolitan Planning.
GIS Developer: The GIS Developer will work with the Savannah Area GIS (SAGIS) team to provide geospatial application design, implementation, and database administration required for partner operations. The GIS Developer will be responsible for publishing map services, map viewer development, creating and updating geodatabases, web site design, and maintaining GIS tools and applications. Responsibilities include GIS programming using current programming languages, creating and maintaining custom GIS applications, tools and analysis, updating datasets, creation of datasets, maintaining GIS services and other related activities.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science or a related field with at least two to three years of professional GIS or custom programming experience is required. Experience with developing custom applications with the Esri suite of products is preferred. Technical writing, excellent public speaking skills, and the ability to collaborate across agencies are essential.
