DEPARTMENT:     Water Department

ENTRY SALARY:  $17.23 per hour, plus benefits

JOB SUMMARY:   This position assists in the maintenance of the county's water distribution system. Operates a variety of equipment including backhoe, trackhoe, loaders, skid steers, etc. Operates a variety of hand and power tools. Installs new water mains and services. Repairs main breaks and service leaks. Installs meters. Flushes water lines. Makes road and yard repairs. Flags traffic and work sites. Transports materials and equipment to work site. Maintains vehicles and equipment. Locks and unlocks meters. Performs related duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
