ENTRY SALARY: $21.00 per hour, plus benefits
JOB SUMMARY: This position performs inspections to ensure compliance with county codes and ordinances. Receives and records complaints; opens case files. Conducts field inspections of alleged county code and ordinance violations; prepares written inspection reports; issues warnings and citations; meets with property owners to discuss steps to resolve issues. Collects photographic evidence of inspection results. Performs follow-up inspections. Prepares cases for trial; testifies in court as required. Answers inquiries and provides information to the general public regarding planning and zoning regulations and policies. Investigates illegal dump sites. Checks on new business openings and contact old businesses for license renewals. Removes illegal signs from right-of-way. Locates new construction and confirms possession of building permits. Performs related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years. Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Possession of or ability to readily obtain the appropriate state certification for the type of inspection(s) conducted.
