Salary $42,245/year

The Butts County Board of Commissioners is seeking to fill the position of a Full-time Code Enforcement officer to work with and support the Code Enforcement Supervisor.

We are looking for a dependable, motivated, person with well-developed people interactions skills, who is willing to learn and, and grow in this position.  Candidate must be a currently certified Ga POST officer or able to recertify, have excellent independent judgment, analytical skills and is attentive to detail.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  1. Responds to citizen’s complaints; inspects locations for violations; gathers and investigates evidence; gives notices of violation; and issues citations if necessary.
  2. Patrols assigned area in a County vehicle to proactively identify and evaluate problem areas and ordinance violations.
  3. Addresses illegal signage; removes illegal signs.
  4. Attends court hearings; performs re-inspection of properties.
  5. Communicates and coordinates between various departments within the County; to include the Sheriff’s Department and Public Works.
  6. Conducts business license checks as required.
  7. Tracks vacant properties and identifies blight structures that are in need of updating to code or demolition.
  8. Processes documentation associated with department/division operations.

Minimum Training and Experience:

High school diploma or GED; basic computer skills, Ga. POST certified Officer.
