Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure construction sites adhere to local codes, ordinances, approved plans/permits, and other applicable federal and state regulations and policies.
  • Environmental Oversight: Protect our environment by enforcing and inspecting erosion and sediment control measures.
  • Inspection Excellence: Conduct site inspections of stormwater BMP and infrastructure systems, and other related aspects of land development (landscaping, retaining walls, tree protection and removal, etc.). Identify potential violations and issue citations required, and evaluate complaints and conduct inspections to support investigations and resolution.
  • Plan Review: Review land development plans for compliance with environmental/development codes.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with agencies, stakeholders, residents, developers and fellow professionals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: High School diploma or GED. Five (5) years of relevant experience involving erosion and sedimentation control and construction site inspection.
  • Certifications: Valid Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission (GSWCC) Level I B Certification and GSWCC Level II Plan Reviewer Certification.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MS Office. Exceptional written and spoken English.
  • Driver's License: Valid Georgia Driver's License with at least five years of good driving history.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction, or related field.
  • Expertise: Understanding of civil engineering, construction practices, materials, and environmental planning.
  • Arborist Certification: Preferred, but not required.

The Land Development Inspector II's starting pay will be competitive and commensurate with the chosen candidate's qualifications and experience. The targeted starting pay is between $27.00 and $31.75/hour. This is a non-exempt position. The City of Johns Creek also offers an attractive benefits package, including health benefits, retirement (401(a) and 457 Plans), and paid leave.
