Job Title: Deputy Fire Marshal  
Department: Dawson County Emergency Services
Salary: $29.28 Hourly/ DOQ
Status: Full-Time/Hourly/Non-Exempt

Job Summary:
Perform a variety of administrative and technical work/specialized functions associated with fire prevention, including inspections, education, and investigations associated with protecting life and property.

Job Requirements:
Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED supplemented by college level course work or vocational training or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Associates Degree in a related field preferred. Five (5) years continuous service including experience in fire suppression, inspections, education, and investigations.

Certifications: EMT Certification (preferred); Georgia State Certified Firefighter (NPQ Firefighter II Preferable), Georgia State Certified Fire Inspector I, Georgia State Certified Fire and Life Safety Educator, Georgia State Certified Arson/Fire Investigator, P.O.S.T. Peace Officer Certification; NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800; Incident Safety Officer; Certified Plan Review Officer; Building Construction: Combustible and Non-combustible; Structural Fire Control; Incident Command System. Additional requirements include the ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Power Point, and more so those utilized by the department including Firehouse. Applicant must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), along with the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated. Applicant must meet all in-house testing requirements; pass a background check and drug screening.
